Act with Reservation (Reserve Clause) (Stoic Lesson #31)
When it comes to your activities, are you "placing all of your eggs in the Outcome basket"?
In Week 31's lesson from our 52-Week journey via "A Handbook for New Stoics", we're challenged to practice using the Stoic Reserve Clause when it comes to setting expectations for ourselves and others.
The Reserve Clause teaches us how to separate our intentions and objectives from the Outcome, since - ultimately - we can only influence, we cannot control what others do or how they behave.
Yet, we should not abandon our virtuous pursuits if they don't exactly go the way we desire or planned.
What Reserve Clause will (or do) you employ to remind yourself that the outcome is not within your control?
